After Macbeth defeated the armies of Norway and Ireland, he came across three witches who foretold he would be thane of Cawdor and king of Scotland. Surprisingly enough, King Duncan promoted Macbeth to thane of Cawdor. However, the promotion went to his head and put murderous thoughts into his mind. Macbeth killed Duncan and became king. The power went to his head more as people start rebelling, so he visited the witches once again, and they told him to fear the day Birnam Wood marches to Dunsinane Hill and fear not anyone born of woman. In the days following, rebel armies took pieces of Birnam Wood and marched with the branches to Dunsinane.
The brave Macduff, ripped out of his mother's womb and not naturally born, defeats Macbeth. Duncan's son Malcom was crowned king, and order was restored to Scotland.
